‘I Would Love to Fight Him’: Bruce Carrington Targets Undisputed Champion

Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington (11-0, 7 KOs) the promising featherweight contender, fighting out of Brooklyn, will face Brayan De Gracia (29-3-1, 25 KOs) at The Theater at Madison Square Garden, New York, who is a late replacement for Mexican veteran Jose Enrique VivasTheir clash will be the co-feature alongside Xander Zayas vs. Patrick Teixeira. Bruce Carrington Talks Future Ambitions and Chasing Greatness

The American featherweight contender is ready to climb the rankings and become a boxing great. Ahead of his fight at MSG, Carrington spoke to Sky Sports about needing to put on a good show: “It’s the Bruce Carrington experience.”

He continued: “Every single time I come and fight it’s gonna be a great show. It’s the ‘Shu Shu’ show. That’s must-see TV.”

Carrington spoke about his fans: “You can say I’m biased or whatever, but I feel like I have the best fans in the game. Everybody in the crowd dancing, having a good time, jumping around, they’re real vibrant.

Last time out, “Shu Shu” showed his ability with a stunning KO victory over Bernard Angelo Torres. The 27-year-old was also named Ring magazine’s 2023 ‘Prospect of the Year’: “That was an incredible moment for me because a lot of fighters who are champions now have won that award,” he said.

He continued: “That have me a real boost of confidence and let me know that what I’m doing is good. It made me want to continue to prove everybody right and that I’m a guy you are going to watch for years to come.”

Chasing Undisputed Champion

The progression for Carrington has been eye-catching so far, and it appears the Brooklyn native wants to fight the very best, including Naoya Inoue: “I would love to fight him because he is known as the best, he is an undisputed champion and a top pound-for-pound guy,” said Carrington.

Carrington continued: “I’m just an ambitious guy, I know what I’m capable of and I know I can be the guy to derail his career. It’s all respect, though, all respect. I just know what I’m capable of.”

He added: “I’m not the type of guy to chase down, I feel like my career is going to be what it’s going to be, with or without him. I’m going to be a successful fighter so don’t really want to put too much emphasis on a possible fight with him.”

Creating a Legacy

“Shu Shu” spoke about being the best: “I’m really going to show them I’m different. Shakur Stevenson, Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia, Teofimo Lopez, whoever, these guys are good but I’m different.”

Carrington added: “I carry a different attitude, a different energy and everybody’s going to feel it.”

The Brooklyn native wants to create a legacy and said: “I’m going to just keep it short and sweet, whenever you guys mention Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, Floyd Mayweather – Bruce Carrington will be in that conversation when it’s all said and done.”
