Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson: Who Will Win? (Guide)

● The fight will be streamed globally on Netflix
● There will be eight 2-minute rounds
● Texas State Athletic Commission have mandated the use of 10-ounce gloves and no headgear

After a delay of several months, Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson is finally set to take place at 8 PM on Friday, Nov. 15 inside the AT&T stadium. It’s a fight that nobody thought would ever actually happen, yet here we are. There’s good reason to be excited, too, as fans will finally see the legendary Mike Tyson step inside a boxing ring for one last time.
Surprisingly, this will be an official fight. It will go on Tyson’s fight record (so his 2005 match against Irish boxer Kevin McBride will no longer be his farewell fight) and won’t go down as an exhibition. This means there’s a lot on the line for both professional pride and reputation – so you can expect both men to put on a show.

The Guide to Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson

Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson: The YouTuber-Turned Boxer Expected to Win

According to sports betting industry experts Gamble USA, the latest Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson odds have YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul (-330) as the favourite and Tyson (+250), the underdog.

The reason why Jake Paul remains the favourite is because he’s been active on the boxing circuit since 2018 and currently holds a 9-1 record in professional boxing, with six of them being knockout victories. In contrast, “Iron Mike” hasn’t fought professionally since 2005, although he did temporarily get back in the ring for an exhibition against Roy Jones Jr.in 2020. On top of this, there’s also a 30-year age gap between the 27-year-old Paul and 58-year-old Tyson, which is why most experts expect Paul to comfortably outmove and outbox Tyson when fight night arrives.

Jake Paul Makes Shock Claim That He’ll Earn $40 Million from the Fight

One of the big talking points surrounding Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson is how much money the two fighters will be taking home. Although no official figures have been released yet, Paul claimed in August:

“I’m here to make $40 million and knock out a legend.”

With Paul claiming that he’ll take home $40 million, it’s expected that Tyson will bag around $20 million, which would be a third of the entire fight purse. Despite being widely regarded as the best fighter of all time, Mike Tyson will likely have accepted a lower cut of the money for this fight due to the fact that Paul’s brand name is one of the key “draws”.

When it comes to expected viewership numbers, Paul vs. Tyson could pull in upwards of 25m viewers. After all, the fight is on Netflix and lots of people want to see Tyson get back in the ring for the last time. Not to mention, there’s a huge buzz on social media surrounding the prospect that Tyson could (despite his age) potentially knock out Paul, or at least marginally hurt him. One thing for sure is that a knockout punch from either of these two characters would send social media into meltdown.

Could Mike Tyson Beat Jake Paul?

Nobody knows for sure what will happen in the fight, but there’s always a chance that Mike Tyson could beat Jake Paul. However, the most likely outcome is that Paul wins by unanimous decision due to his significant age and physical advantage. Even though Paul has only ever fought 1 professional boxer his entire career, he has shown on countless occasions that he has a nasty right hand capable of knocking people out cold (just ask Tyron Woodley or Mike Perry), so it won’t be easy for Tyson.

The interesting thing about this huge crossover clash, though, is if there is an elephant in the room: Jake Paul knocking out a 58-year-old Mike Tyson would not be a good look for anyone. It would do untold damage to Paul’s brand image, Netflix would be under fire from all angles, and Mike Tyson’s reputation would be destroyed. After all, nobody wants their lasting image of Tyson to be of a young Jake Paul standing over him on the canvas, and even Paul himself probably doesn’t want that.

This is why it’s probable that a gentleman’s agreement could already have been made that neither fighter would go for a knockout punch. Instead, what’s much more likely is that Paul and Tyson will have a competitive spar with each other, that results in Paul winning on points. There’s even a chance it could end in a draw, although this caused controversy last time when Tyson’s 2020 exhibition against Roy Jones Jr. was scored as a draw, despite the obvious fact that Tyson had won the bout.

Who is Sponsoring Paul vs. Tyson?

Unsurprisingly, some of the world’s biggest brand names have been desperate to sponsor the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight. After negotiations, Netflix has landed five sponsors in Celsius, DraftKings, Experian, Meta Quest, and Spaten. This was announced earlier in the month by Magno Herran, VP of Global Marketing Partnerships at Netflix, who was speaking at Variety’s Content Meets Commerce Summit.

Conclusion

The Paul-Tyson boxing match will be an exciting (and slightly weird) bout. Set to take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Nov.15, anyone with a Netflix subscription can watch Jake “The Problem Child” Paul (10-1) go up against the legendary Mike “Baddest Man on the Planet” Tyson (50-6) in what will be the most-watched boxing event of the year. The most likely outcome is that Paul will take a points victory, but don’t be shocked if Tyson decides to throw a bomb (or two) Paul’s way. Let’s wait and see what happens.
