Five Boxing Prospects to Watch Now: Meet the Next Generation
Boxing is a sport with its fair share of young talented boxers in the early stages of their careers.
Around the world, boxers toil away in their quests for world titles. Some, despite being relatively inexperienced, show promise early on. Big Fight Weekend presents five prospects that you should keep an eye out for.
Five Boxing Prospects to Keep an Eye On
Kyosuke Takami
Kyosuke Takami (7-0, 5 KOs) is a 22-year-old light flyweight from Japan. All of his bouts so far have taken place in Tokyo’s Korakuen Hall on Teiken Promotions cards. Despite being only seven fights into his career, Takami is already fighting eight and 10-rounders. His most recent bout saw him defeat former world title challenger Wulan Tuolehazi in July this year.
Justin Viloria
Justin Viloria (6-0, 4 KOs) has already featured in some of the most high-profile boxing events of the last year and a half. A 20-year super featherweight last in action on the undercard of an event that saw Gervonta Davis stop Frank Martin. Given that Viloria has consistently featured on events under the Premier Boxing Champions banner, expect him to continue to develop on those cards for the next couple of years.
Curmel Moton
Promoted by Floyd Mayweather Jr. himself, Curmel Moton (5-0, 4 KOs) made his professional boxing debut while he was still 17 years old. Due to his affiliation with Mayweather, expectations are high for Moton. Currently operating at super featherweight, Moton’s fights already attract a fair bit of attention. Still, only 18, it will be interesting to see where he stands in boxing five years from now.
Krystal Rosado-Ortiz
Krystal Rosado-Ortiz (4-0, 2 KOs) is promoted by Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions and managed by Amanda Serrano herself. This combination means more people are paying attention to Rosado-Ortiz than your average 21-year-old super flyweight fighter. She soon returns to the ring on a Most Valuable Promotions card taking place in October.
Arvin Jhon Paciones
A 19-year-old Filipino light flyweight now based in Vietnam, Arvin Jhon Paciones (9-0, 5 KOs) is already showing promise despite his young age. His most recent bout saw him defeat former world champion Rene Mark Cuarto. Like Moton, Paciones also made his professional debut as a 17-year-old. Only nine fights into his professional boxing career, Paciones has already fought in Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.
