The Journey of Angelina Lucas

Angelina Lucas Childhood and Boxing Journey

As a child, she was engaged in dancing and achieved significant success, but soon realised that this occupation became too boring for her. Then Angelina decided to enrol in the gym to learn self-defence because she wanted to protect herself.

Interestingly, Angelina’s whole family is connected with sports: her younger brother is a swimmer who represented the national team at competitions, her mom is a track and field athlete, and her dad and grandfather are boxers.

Boxing gloves soon became an integral part of Lucas’s life. She couldn’t imagine her existence without training and training camps. However, her parents were against her hobby; her father refused to take her daughter to classes. In this, she was helped by her grandmother, who lived near the gym and accompanied her granddaughter to training.

Angelina is completely immersed in boxing and does not devote time to her personal life. Thoughts about love and relationships do not interest her. She has a busy sports schedule, and she is often on the move.

Earlier, she dated a young man for a year and a half, but their relationship ended. He dreamed of Angelina leaving boxing and marrying him. However, Lucas has no plans to give up his sport.

Conflict Between Angelina Lucas and NazıM KıZaibay

In September 2021, Angelina found herself at the centre of a high-profile scandal in the Kazakhstan national team. She was in constant conflict with Nazym Kyzaybay, with whom she competed in the same weight category. Lucas believed that Nazym received more support from the team and accused her of doping. Kyzaybay did not stand aside and responded to these accusations, stating that Angelina’s coach had twisted a light bulb in the corridor and scattered an unknown white powder on the doorstep of her room, after which she felt sick.

As a result, Lucas was suspended from training with the national team and addressed an open letter to Kazakhstani President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev. After an internal investigation, Angelina was returned to the team, but now she and Kyzaybay will train separately. Lucas has serious ambitions. She aspires to become an absolute world champion and bring the titles to Kazakhstan.
