Crawford vs Canelo rematch – Robert Garcia weighs in

On September 13 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, we witnessed greatness, with Terence Crawford(42-0, 31 KOs) defeating Canelo Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 KOs) by unanimous decision. The victory ensured he became a three-division undisputed champion and four-division lineal champion. Looking ahead to a possible Crawford vs Canelo rematch, respected trainer Robert Garcia revealed to Fight Hub TV that he believes a potential rematch could go Canelo’s way.

It was an impressive performance by “Bud” Crawford as he stayed mobile throughout and picked his shots impressively.

The Omaha native even began to sit down on his punches towards the end of the fight and thoroughly deserved the win, with Canelo struggling to land anything of significance.

Looking ahead to a potential Crawford vs Canelo rematch, Garcia spoke of Canelo needing to make a change, insisting that if he could, the result could be different.

“He needs to make a change, I think. I would love to see the rematch. I think in the rematch, if he comes back with the hunger that he needs, he could beat Crawford, because Crawford, you know, Crawford is very talented, but I think Canelo could beat him.

“Canelo’s strong, man, Canelo’s strong. Canelo could take a good punch.

“So I think, I think he could just go and, and don’t respect his punch and, and throw punches even though you’re gonna get hit, but don’t, don’t give up, keep going until you hit him.”

The future for Crawford and Canelo

Both Canelo and Crawford have secured their legacies. It remains to be seen what they will do in the future. It’s entirely possible we never see them fight again, with Crawford vs Canelo 2 seemingly the most financially lucrative option for either.

Turki Alalshikh has confirmed he met with Canelo, and the intention is for the Mexican to fight on, with two more bouts left on his Riyadh Season deal.

What will “Bud” Crawford do next? I don’t think anyone could blame the Omaha native if he retired at the top.
