Nick Ball vs. Ronny Rios: Press Conference Quotes and Fight Prediction

Nick Ball (20-0-1, 11 KOs) will soon make the first defence of his WBA featherweight title against Ronny Rios (34-4, 17 KOs).

The two fighters headline a Queensberry Promotions card at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England. Fight fans in the United Kingdom can catch the action live on TNT Sports. Those in the United States can do so with ESPN+.

Ahead of their world title clash, Ball and Rios spoke at a press conference. Below is some of what they had to say.

Nick Ball vs. Ronny Rios Press Conference Quotes

Nick Ball

“Just glad to be back [in Liverpool] more than anything,” said Ball. “Fighting in my home city, this is where it all started. Feels good to be fighting here as a world champion. Thanks for everyone coming out, buying tickets and coming to support me. Thanks to Frank [Warren] and George [Warren] and everyone at team Queensberry and me whole team.”

Ronny Rios

“This is my third attempt [at a world title],” said Rios. “We got a good fight in front of us, I’m not going to lie. This is the fights that I get up for. This is the fights that motivate me. Like I was telling somebody earlier, I’ve always, always wanted to test myself and in my eyes Nick Ball is one of the best fighters at 126, so I want to test myself. I want to see where I stand. I don’t have that pressure…I’m just excited to see where I stand and we’ve had a great camp. So two more days and it’s almost here.”

Fight Prediction

At 34, Rios is closer to the end of his career than he is to the beginning. Ball is younger and has a lot less mileage. Expect this to be a fight where the reigning champion gradually wears down Rios. Ball to win by stoppage by round 10.
