Gervonta Davis Readying For Strong January Test
To kick off the new year Gervonta “Tank” Davis will look to stay undefeated and retain his WBA secondary championship belt, as he takes on another undefeated, rising Hector Luis Garcia. This, as he makes his highly anticipated return to the nation’s capital, Washington D.C. and aims to maintain his current hot streak at Capital One Arena in January.
Davis and Garcia kicked off promotion Tuesday afternoon for the Showtime/PBC pay per view coming January 7th,

Davis, 27-0, 25 KOs, with 92% of Davis’ fights having ended in KOs, it seems more than likely that he’ll pull off his fourth consecutive title defense. On the flip side, Garcia recently became a three-division world champion after successfully overtaking previous unbeaten Mario Barrios to capture a 140-pound secondary title in 2021.
Davis knows this fight won’t be a cake walk by any means and he’s ready for whatever challenges Garcia throws his way. “My opponent is an Olympian and a world champion who’s proven to the boxing world that he is a tremendous competitor.” Davis said. “I’m in camp working hard and I’ll be ready on January 7th to make this a statement fight for all my future opponents.” Davis said Tuesday
Davis, who’s eyeing a monstrous PPV with Ryan Garcia later in 2023, was also very emphatic stating his desire to put on an unforgettable performance near his hometown of Baltimore. “At this point I’m done talking and ready to just let my fighting say everything that’s needed.” Davis said.
García (16-0, 10 KOs) is coming off a spectacular 2022 highlighted by two marquee victories. García has fought professionally since December of 2016 after a stellar amateur career that included representing his native Dominican Republic in the 2016 Olympics® and a runner-up finish at the 2015 Pan-Am Games in Toronto.
Now training in Las Vegas under the watchful eye of respected trainer Bob Santos, García scored one of the biggest upsets of 2022 in February, when he dropped and defeated then-unbeaten Chris Colbert. In August,

The Showtime PPV will also feature unbeaten, top welterweight contender Jaron “Boots” Ennis and unbeaten, former WBO middleweight champ Demetrius Andrade, as well.
