Today, boxing world title fights take place around the globe and are more accessible to watch than ever before. Sometimes, championship bouts do not receive as much attention and go underreported. Big Fight Weekend commits to writing about boxing news, previews and recaps. As such, the site now has a recurring segment on championship bouts from around the world from the past week.
The focus of these pieces will be on clashes ranging from atomweight to heavyweight that had the WBA, WBC, IBF, and/or WBO titles on the line. This week’s edition of “Title Fights From Around the World” consists of two recaps. In the Philippines, a reigning minimumweight world champion made a successful defence.

Melvin Jerusalem vs. Siyakholwa Kuse fight recap
Melvin Jerusalem (25-3, 12 KOs) made a successful defence of his world title with a unanimous decision against Siyakholwa Kuse (9-3-1, 4 KOs).
Scores for their bout were 116-112 (x2) and 115-113. Jerusalem remains the WBC minimumweight world champion with the result. He won the title in March last year against Yudai Shigeoka. This was his third defence of it.
Jerusalem-Kuse headlined an October 29 Manny Pacquiao Promotions at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Philippines. Fight fans around the world could catch the action live on the IBA Boxing YouTube channel. It was also available in certain regions on DAZN.
The fight began tentatively with both men seeking to establish their jabs. Kuse was most effective when he was able to get on the inside. The South African went to the canvas in round three from an overhand left, but the referee instead ruled that he had slipped. Jerusalem became intent on getting the stoppage following that round. However, Kuse was determined and battled it out until the final bell. In the end, the three judges determined that Jerusalem did enough to win, allowing him to retain his world title.
