After an entertaining undercard, it was time for Shabaz Masoud vs Peter McGrail for the vacant European super bantamweight title.
Peter McGrail enjoyed a fast start, getting into a rhythm early, using his slick footwork and punch accuracy to take the opening round. While Masoud (15-0, 4 KOs) had his moments in the first round, McGrail will be happy with that start. The hand speed and variation from the Liverpudlian continued to trouble Masoud into the second round.
Over the next few rounds, McGrail (12-2, 6 KOs) continued to force the tempo, while Masoud began to find his range in the fourth round. Masoud enjoyed his best round in the fifth, as he began to catch his opponent coming in. As Masoud began to look like he was turning the tide.
McGrail enjoyed a strong seventh round, rocking “Maverick” with a left hand. Masoud timed his punches impressively and ended the seventh round strongly. Masoud had his best round of the fight in the ninth as he landed some eye-catching body shots, which McGrail did well to survive. A potential huge moment happened in the tenth round, with McGrail losing a point for punching behind the head of Masoud.
As the fight reached its conclusion, McGrail continued to apply pressure, while Masoud landed the cleaner shots. Over the final two rounds, Masoud seemed to drop his work rate and coast the final six minutes, as the Liverpudlian kept his work rate high.
The fight went to the judges’ scorecards, which read 116-111, 115-112, and 114-113, all in favour of the Stoke fighter. The cleaner work from Masoud in the middle rounds was the key for Masoud, who is now the European super bantamweight champion.
Beatriz Ferreira vs Elif Nur Turhan
Beatriz Ferreira (8-1, 2 KOs) vs Elif Nur Turhan (12-0, 8 KOs) for Ferreira’s IBF women’s lightweight title was a fight many were looking forward to.
What an opening round! Ferreira started well and used her feet to maintain the range and avoid the power punches of her Turkish opponent. A heavy punch from Turhan was not scored as a knockdown, but a huge right hand soon floored Ferreira, who did well to survive the round.
Turhan continued to swing wildly at times, but Ferriera produced her best round in the third, moving in and out of range, picking her shots, and making her opponent miss.
A brutal flurry of punches came from the Turkish fighter in the fifth round, knocking Ferreira down, who made it to her feet. The referee had a good look at the Brazilian fighter and deemed her in no position to continue. Turhan is a huge problem for the other champions. Johnny Fisher vs Herbert Matovu

After a fairly quiet opening, Balaz took some nice shots from Fisher before Balaz had Fisher in all kinds of trouble with some cuffing punches. Fisher went to the canvas, but it was ruled a no knockdown.
Balaz hurt Fisher again in the second, who then hit Balaz with a low blow, leading the referee to take a point from the Brit.
It was a more compact end to the second round. Fisher had success with his right hand and used his jab more effectively. The Romford Bul continued to pick his punches better in the third, catching Balaz, who didn’t throw much in return.

As the ref waved the fight on, Fisher walked forward and landed a huge right hand to score his third knockdown. The referee quickly waved the fight off, awarding the Brit a KO win. Fisher showed plenty of spirit after that torrid opening round, but there are still plenty of questions to answer for The Romford Bull.
Conah Walker vs Pat McCormack
Next up on the Shabaz Masoud vs Peter McGrail undercard was Conah Walker (17-3-1, 8 KOs) vs Pat McCormack (8-1, 6 KOs) for the vacant IBF inter-continental welterweight title.
In the opening round, Walker applied the pressure throughout, but the cleaner work came from McCormack. The 2020 Olympic silver medallist enjoyed a strong third round. He began to create distance and put his punches together impressively.
A well-timed body shot from Walker in the fifth round seemed to hurt McCormack. It was definitely the best round for Walker, who did well to close the distance and make it his kind of fight. The tenacity and constant pressure from Walker continued in the final round, with a number of heavy shots, knocking McCormack out of the ring. He couldn’t make it to his feet, and the referee waved the fight off. What a performance from Walker, and a stunning upset!
Sean McComb vs Hugo Micallef

A sharp left hand from McComb knocked Micallef down. He seemed to be ok after getting back to his feet, but the Northern Irishman continued to control the distance and tempo with ease.
Over the next few rounds, Micallef continued to struggle with the southpaw stance of McComb, who grew in confidence and timed his shots impressively. The brilliant combination and bodywork from McComb saw him score another knockdown, with his opponent doing well to make it to the end of the round.
