Ryan Garner vs Reece Bellotti: All Results on July 26

Ryan Garner vs Reece Bellotti

Next up was the main event, with Ryan Garner (18-0, 9 KOs) facing Reece Bellotti (20-6, 15 KOs), for Garner’s European super featherweight title and Bellotti’s British and Commonwealth titles.

It was a bright start from Garner in the opening round, varying his angles of attack, but Bellotti adjusted well in the second, moving well and making Garner miss. “The Piranha” enjoyed an impressive third round, before landing a smart combination late to confirm that dominance in the round.

At the halfway point, it was a competitive fight, but the cleaner punches came from Garner. Bellotti enjoyed a productive sixth round, with the highlight being a well-timed left hook. As the fight reached the later rounds, Bellotti was competitive, but the eye-catching work came from the Southampton native. The Southampton man increased the tempo in round 10, landing some smart combinations.

The final round saw Garner land a series of heavy, accurate punches that had Bellotti scrambling, before the referee jumped in to end the contest. It was an accomplished performance from the Southampton man, who successfully defended his European title while winning the British and Commonwealth titles, with the last round TKO victory.

Aloys Jr vs Ellis Zorro

In the chief support fight, Aloys Jr (11-1, 9 KOs) faced Ellis Zorro (18-3, 7 KOs) in a cruiserweight clash. It was a mostly cagey opening round with Zorro looking to establish his jab. Aloys Jr outworked Zorro for much of the first few rounds. Zorro didn’t do enough to take any of the early rounds, but did work well off his jab at times.

Zorro had his best round in the fourth, controlling the distance well and picking his punches impressively. As the fight reached the halfway point, Zorro began to set his feet and throw some heavier shots, looking the sharper fighter. Aloys Jr looked frustrated in the ninth, with Zorro using his jab and moving well. Aloys Jr continued to struggle to land his normal heavy punches.

Aloys was the aggressor, but was the quality of his work enough? No real change came in the last round, with Aloys following Zorro around, who looked comfortable. The work rate of the “The Animal” was seemingly enough for him to win the last round. It’s not been a great watch, making it a challenging fight to score. The judges’ scorecards read 96-94, 98-93 and 97-93, all in favour of Aloys Jr, who won the WBC international cruiserweight title.

Tony Curtis Jr vs Charles Tondo

In the flyweight division, it was Tony Curtis Jr (11-1, 3 KOs) vs Charles Tondo (16-10-3, 7 KOs). An eventful opening round saw Curtis Jr land a big right hand, rocking his opponent. He picked his punches well and evaded many of his opponent’s attacks.

Tondo had his best moment in the fourth round, backing up Curtis Jr on the ropes and letting hands go. Curtis Jr continued to box and move. The fan in me wanted him to do more and let his shots go. However, it’s a performance that showed promise, and with the backing of Roy Jones Jr, Curtis could go far. The referee’s scorecard read 59-55 in favour of Curtis.

Hassan Ishaq vs Brandon Gallardo Vargas

Next up in the bantamweight division was the 2x national amateur champion Hassan Ishaq (1-0, 1 KO), making his professional debut against Brandon Gallardo Vargas (3-8-1, 1 KO). It was a terrific start from Ishaq, who showed poise and picked his shots well while moving his feet. The domination continued in the second round, where his timing and accuracy stood out. Another flurry of punches came in the third, and the referee soon waved the fight off. Yes, not the greatest opposition, but that was an impressive performance from the 21-year-old, who showed power and variation.

Amir Abubaker vs Carl Fail

Amir Abubaker (9-1, 6 KOs) vs Carl Fail (11-0, 4 KOs) was the first fight on the main card live on DAZN. This super welterweight bout saw two unbeaten fighters collide for the Southern Area title.

Both fighters found success in the opening round, but it was Fail who landed the cleaner punches, especially with the counter left. Abubaker had his moments, yet Fail impressed with his movement and sharp counterpunching. The champion enjoyed a strong end to round three, with Fail against the ropes.

By the middle rounds, Abubaker’s pressure remained constant, while Fail continued to pick his shots smartly. Despite nearly two years out of the ring, Fail showed very little ring rust. In the eighth round, Fail stunned Abubaker with a left hook and capitalised with a series of well-placed shots that dropped the champion. The referee waved it off, sealing an impressive, well-rounded performance from Carl Fail.

Taylor Bevan vs Zdenko Bule

The highly regarded Matchroom Boxing fighter started strongly, mixing up his attacks and finding particular success with punishing body shots.

Bevan upped the tempo in the third round, landing hurtful combinations to the head and body. Bule, the Bosnian-born fighter, could only respond with wild right hands that missed the mark. Midway through the round, Bevan scored a knockdown. Although Bule beat the count, the referee waved it off, awarding Bevan a TKO victory.

Mason Payne vs Octavian Gratii

The next fight in the ring was Mason Payne (5-0, 2 KO) vs Octavian Gratii (8-89-4, 4 KOs) in the welterweight division. Payne started strongly, controlling the distance and mixing his attacks impressively. The British fighter landed some hurtful shots in the third round, seemingly hurting the durable Gratii.

In a bizarre turn of events in round four, Gratii appeared to turn his ankle and could barely walk. This prompted Payne to increase the pressure and land a series of hurtful punches, leading the referee to jump in and wave the fight off, awarding Payne the fourth round stoppage win.
