Oscar Collazo vs Jayson Vayson – all results from September 13

Gabriela Fundora vs Alexas Kubicki

In the co-main event, it was undisputed flyweight queen Gabriela Fundora (17-0, 9 KOs) against Alexas Kubicki (13-2, 2 KOs).

“Sweet Poison” quickly found her rhythm, mixing her attacks impressively. The accuracy from Fundora saw Kubicki’s face mark up significantly in the second round.

Fundora boxed with patience during the opening few rounds, maintaining distance and punching from a distance.

Despite Kubicki’s bravery, Fundora continued to control the tempo and let her shots go. At the beginning of the seventh round, Kubicki was warned that she was taking too many punches, and after another sustained attack, referee Ray Corona jumped in to wave off the fight, awarding Fundora an impressive KO victory, ensuring “Sweet Poison” retains her undisputed crown. Kubicki was brave, but Fundora was more than a level above.

Ruslan Abdullaev vs Kevin Johnson

Next up on the Oscar Collazo vs Jayson Vayson undercard was Ruslan Abdullaev (3-0, 1 KO) vs Kevin Johnson (12-8, 8 KOs) in the welterweight division.

After a cagey opening two rounds, Abdullaev increased the tempo in the third, mixing his shots impressively, backing Johnson up.

Johnson proved to be a difficult opponent at times during the fight, employing veteran tactics to frustrate his Uzbek opponent.

The Americans’ occasional flurries gave him confidence but had little effect on Abdullaev, who was noticeably the cleaner puncher. The judges’ scorecards reflected the cleaner punching from the Uzbek, with scores of 80-72 and 79-73 x2.

Joel Iriarte vs. Eduardo Hernandez

Next up was Joel Iriarte (9-0, 8 KOs) vs Eduardo Hernandez (8-5, 5 KOs) in the welterweight division. Iriarte dominated the opening round, landing a bone-crunching left to the body of his opponent, forcing him to take a knee.

The domination continued until a left hook to the head, which knocked Hernandez down, forcing referee Thomas Taylor to jump in and wave the fight off, awarding Iriarte the third-round KO victory.

Grant Flores vs Courtney Pennington

In the opening fight of the Oscar Collazo vs Jayson Vayson main DAZN undercard, Grant Flores (12-0, 9 KOs) faced Courtney Pennington (17-10-3, 7 KOs) in the middleweight division. It was an opening round that saw both have success.

As the rounds progressed, Flores began to dominate, landing some heavy punches to the body of his opponent.

Pennington did have his moments with the occasional single shot, but the variety and power came from Flores, who, in the seventh round, landed a series of heavy, well-paced shots, forcing Pennington to take a knee, who did well to make the bell in the round.

The fight ultimately went to the judge’s scorecards, which read 80-71 x2 and 79-72 in favour of Flores.

Untelevised undercard

In the featherweight division, Gael Cabrera (10-0, 7 KOs) stopped Judy Flores (14-5, 8 KOs) in the first-round with a brutal left to the body.

Javid Ramirez 15-0, 7 KOs) defeated Brian Arregui (11-7, 7 KOs) in the middleweight division by unanimous decision with scores of 60-54 x2.

Adriana Pineiro (9-0, 1 KO) was successful in the flyweight division, defeating Gloria Munguilla (8-2, 0 KOs) by unanimous decision with scores of 80-72 and 79-73 x2.
