Josh Padley vs Reece Bellotti

Next up in the super featherweight division was tipped by many to be the fight of the night, with Josh Padley (17-2, 5 KOs) facing Reece Bellotti (20-7, 15 KOs) for the WBA international title.

It was a bright start from both, with Belotti the aggressor and Padley moving his feet well and picking his shots. Bellotti continued to force the pace in the first few rounds, with Padley firing back in mainly ones and twos.

At the halfway point of the fight, Bellotti was seemingly winning with his eye-catching body shots. As the fight progressed, Padley began to put his shots together and pull himself back into contention.

Going into the last round, Padley had definitely closed the gap, but was it too little too late after the good work in the early rounds from Bellotti? The final round saw Padley land the cleaner shots, but Bellotti had his moments, landing some heavy shots. It went to the judges’ scorecards, which read 99-92, and 97-93 x 2, awarding Padley the unanimous decision win and the WBA international title.

Bellotti did great work early on, with Padley coming on strong in the later rounds, leaving it a seemingly close fight on the scorecards, but to score that bout 99-92 is flabbergasting.

Hamza Uddin vs Paul Roberts

The first bout on the live DAZN Dave Allen vs Makhmudov undercard saw exciting flyweight prospect Hamza Uddin (6-0, 3 KOs) face Paul Roberts (7-7-2, 2 KOs) for the vacant English and WBA international flyweight titles.

It was a bright start, with Uddin showing swift movement and eye-catching accuracy, taking control of the fight early. The jumping left hook from Uddin was the money shot in the opening few rounds. A sustained attack on the body in round five saw Uddin score three knockdowns, leading to Roberts’ corner throwing in the towel.

An impressive performance from the Walsall fighter, winning by fifth-round TKO, becoming the new WBA international and English flyweight champion. The future looks bright for the 22-year-old.

Ibraheem Sulaimaan vs James Chereji

In the final fight of the Dave Allen vs Makhmudov prelims, it was a super featherweight contest between James Chereji (22-7, 10 KOs) and the exciting four-time amateur champion Ibraheem Sulaimaan (9-0, 4 KOs).

It was a confident start from Sulaimaan, who mixed his attacks well and landed some impressive shots. Over the next few rounds, Chereji showed bravery, but “Spider” was mostly in control, controlling the tempo and distance, showcasing sharp punching.

The 24-year-old Birmingham fighter boxed with discipline against an experienced opponent and deserved the 80-72 victory on the referee’s scorecard.

Conner Tudsbury vs Khalid Graidia

Conner Tudsbury (3-0, 2 KO) was next up in the light heavyweight division against Khalid Graidia (13-16-5, 4 KOs).

After a patient start to the fight from Tudsbury, he increased the pressure during round two, turning into every punch, and landing some hurtful-looking shots to the body of his opponent.

Graidia showed bravery, looking to trade with the Brit, but the far cleaner and impactful work came from the Manchester fighter. Tudsbury increased the pressure again in round four, landing some hurtful-looking shots, including two massive body shots, leading to Graidia retreating to his corner, indicating no más for the 42-year-old Frenchman. The referee quickly waved the fight off, awarding Tudsbury the fourth-round TKO win.

Joe Hayden vs Angelo Dragone

Next up on the Dave Allen vs Makhmudov prelims was Joe Hayden (20-0, 2 KOs) vs Angelo Dragone (10-9, 1 KO) in the welterweight division.

After a cagey opening round, Dragone landed the occasional punch. Hayden began to put his shots together impressively during the second round, which showed the quality gap between the two fighters.

Dragone was awkward and applied pressure, but Hayden reacted well and had great success with his right hook. A lovely left hand from Hayden on the back foot knocked down “The Italian Stallion.” Hayden continued to box with confidence, showcasing sharp combinations deserving of a 60-53 win on the referee’s scorecard.

Joe Howarth vs Karl Sampson

In the opening fight of the night in the super lightweight division, Joe Howarth (14-1, 4 KOs) faced Karl Sampson (9-60-1, 1 KO).

It was a good start from Howarth, as he looked sharp on his feet and worked well off his jab. Howarth continued to work well behind his lead hand, controlling the distance and tempo. Sampson struggled to land anything of note, with the 23-year-old Wigan fighter cruising to a 60-54 victory.
