Subriel Matías vs. Dalton Smith press conference quotes

Subriel Matías

“I am here,” said Matías through an interpreter. “Many blessings to everybody. I wish [my opponent and his team] a lot of success on Saturday. But I’m here. The fight is gonna happen and my promoter did get the fight. So we’ll see what happens Saturday. It’s going to be a great fight.”

Dalton Smith

“Look, for me this is what dreams are made of,” said Smith. “I’m not here to make up the numbers. I’m here to achieve a childhood dream and that’s to become for me. Win the best belt in boxing and that’s the WBC world title. There’s been a lot of ups and downs to get this fight, but look, I’ve had one job on my mind and that’s this fight. To become a world champion. I haven’t let no distractions come in my way. I’ve had my head down, training hard and I’ll be a world champion Saturday.”

Fight prediction

Going the distance with Matías is a challenging task. In fact, only three boxers have been able to do so in the entirety of his professional boxing career. Matías has the ability to close the distance and overwhelm opponents. Smith will struggle to keep the reigning champion off of him. He will be gradually broken down before ultimately being stopped. Expect a Matías knockout within 10 rounds.
