Shabaz Masoud vs. Peter McGrail press conference quotes and fight prediction
Shabaz Masoud (14-0, 4 KOs) and Peter McGrail (12-1, 6 KOs) will soon clash for the vacant European super bantamweight title.
Their bout headlines a Matchroom Boxing card at the Salle des Étoiles in Monte Carlo, Monaco. Fight fans around the world can catch the action live on DAZN.
Both men spoke at a press conference ahead of their Dec. 6 contest. Below is some of what they had to say.
Shabaz Masoud vs. Peter McGrail press conference quotes
Shabaz Masoud
“Alhamdulillah,” said Masoud. “All praise is to God. I worked my way up to this kind of position. Alhamdulillah, I’m ready. More than ready for a fight like this. I’m going to show everyone what time it is.”
“I’ve been in the gym for the whole year. Even when I had that injury I was still in the gym working out all the things. You can ask anyone in the team. I’m a bit of a gym rat. I’m always in the gym. I live the life. Alhamdulillah.”
Peter McGrail
Note: The audio cut out during the time that McGrail spoke and much of what he said was inaudible. Below is the only audible quote of his from the press conference.
“I’ve been working so hard this camp,” said McGrail. “I’m up against a very, very good fighter and I’m in the shape of me life. You’re all going to see that Saturday night.”
Fight prediction
McGrail was a bronze medalist at two separate World Championships and a gold medalist at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. He also represented his country at the Tokyo Olympics during his time as an amateur. McGrail is without doubt a fighter with a significant amount of schooling. Masoud may not have fought at the same level as an amateur, but is a quality operator nonetheless. He will definitely make things difficult for his opponent. However, McGrail appears to have learnt from his loss to Ja’Rico O’Quinn and should have more than enough to win. Expect a unanimous decision victory for the Liverpudlian.
