Canelo Alvarez Predicts Ryan Garcia vs Rolly Romero

On May 2, in Times Square, New York, Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) will take on Rolly Romero (16-2, 13 KOs). This will be the main event of The Ring’s Fatal Fury: Times Square card. The entire card will be broadcast exclusively on DAZN PPV. When talking to Fight Hub TV, Canelo Alvarez was asked to predict Garcia-Romero and the Mexican superstar was in no doubt who will win.

Many doubted if we would ever see Garcia step foot in a professional boxing ring again, but after serving a year-long ban, being fined $10,000 and agreeing to forfeit his fight purse (from the Devin Haney fight), “Kingry” is back in action this Saturday against Romero. It remains to be seen what Garcia has left following a tumultuous 12 months since his controversial win over Haney, which ultimately was ruled a no contest after the Victorville native failed a VADA pre-fight and post-fight drug test, with Ostarine found in his urine.

After touching down in Riyadh for his undisputed super middleweight clash with William Scull, Canelo was asked for his prediction for Garcia-Rolly, and he said: “He’s (Garcia) gonna win. He’s gonna win by knockout.”

Garcia, at his best, should be too fast and carry too much power for someone as methodical as Rolly. ‘Kingry’ needs to stay disciplined early, use his jab to frustrate Romero, and then let his hands go in the middle rounds—before detonating that monster left hook of his.
