Pat McCormack vs. Miguel Parra: Press Conference Quotes and Fight Prediction
Pat McCormack (7-0, 5 KOs) and Miguel Parra (25-5-1, 17 KOs) will soon clash in a 10-round welterweight contest.
Their bout headlines a Matchroom Boxing card at the Sunderland Live in Houghton-le-Spring, England. Fight fans around the world can catch the action live on DAZN.
Both men spoke at a press conference ahead of their September 6 fight. Below is some of what they had to say.
Pat McCormack vs. Miguel Parra Press Conference Quotes
Pat McCormack
“Buzzing to be back,” said McCormack. “Obviously, had a good win me last fight. Beat Robbie Davies and got a good stoppage there and I think that’s just pushed us right up there and now in a good fight with a world ranked opponent and I’m looking forward to it.”
“To be honest I got back in the gym as soon as I could [following a spell with injury]. Obviously I was out the ring for a while but I was in the gym non-stop and I just can’t wait to get back in there Saturday night.”
Miguel Parra
“It’s a big opportunity,” said Parra in Spanish. “I think that it’s the fight of my life. This fight changes everything. It’s important because what’s at stake is the [WBA inter-continental title]. This opportunity is also a [WBA world title] eliminator above all. So I think that it’s my moment. It’s the fight of my life and I’m going to show it on Saturday.”
“This fight we prepared well. As has been said about [Shakhram] Giyasov, I think [compared to] that fight this is going to be a different fight with better preparation. I always prepare consciously and we’re going to prove it as I’ve said. This Saturday we’re prepared for 12 rounds. I thought it was going to be a 12-round fight. Since it’s an eliminator I hope that it’s going to be 12 rounds.”
Fight Prediction
Despite only having seven professional bouts so far, McCormack is already in a world title eliminator. Clearly, Matchroom Boxing have a lot of faith in the Brit who won silver at the Tokyo Olympics. He should have the skills to defeat Parra on Saturday. The Mexican may not be the biggest of punchers, but does have 17 stoppages in his 25 wins. As long as McCormack boxes responsibly, expect him to walk away with the unanimous decision win.
