Oscar Collazo vs. Jayson Vayson press conference quotes and fight prediction
Oscar Collazo (12-0, 9 KO) will soon defend his world titles against Jayson Vayson (14-1-1, 8 KOs, 1 NC).
Their bout is being promoted by Golden Boy Promotions – in association with Miguel Cotto Promotions – at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, CA. Fight fans around the world can catch the action live on DAZN. Collazo’s WBA and WBO minimumweight world titles will be on the line.
Both men spoke at a press conference ahead of their September 20 clash. Below is some of what they had to say.
Oscar Collazo vs. Jayson Vayson press conference quotes
Oscar Collazo
“I want to thank everyone at Golden Boy, Miguel Cotto Promotions, DAZN and everyone who helped make it happen to come back to the Coachella Valley where I first got my belts,” said Collazo. “Vayson has fought a lot of good opposition and comes with a lot of hunger, and I know will come to fight.”
Jayson Vayson
“It’s the first time I am fighting in the United States and I can’t wait to show the world what I am made of and that I am a true warrior of the Philippines,” said Vayson through an interpreter. “We are prepared to show our best in the ring. I will not waste this opportunity and the chance to become a world champion.”
Fight prediction
Collazo has established himself as a fighter to watch. With impressive victories over the likes of Melvin Jerusalem, Thammanoon Niyomtrong, and Edwin Cano, the Puerto Rican has given fight fans a reason to pay attention to the minimumweight division. Vayson has spent the past couple of years at light flyweight and flyweight, but returns to minimumweight in an attempt to become world champion. The Filipino will give it a go, as British boxing commentators say, but expect him to have little for the extremely talented Puerto Rican. Collazo to win via stoppage within eight rounds.
