Lewis Crocker vs. Paddy Donovan 2 press conference quotes and fight prediction
Lewis Crocker (21-0, 11 KOs) and Paddy Donovan (14-1, 11 KOs) will soon face each other in a rematch.
Their bout headlines a Matchroom Boxing card at the Clearer Twist National Stadium at Windsor Park in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Fight fans around the world can catch the action live on DAZN.
The pair fought each other earlier this year with Crocker winning via eight-round disqualification. Their rematch now comes with the vacant IBF welterweight world title at stake.
Both men spoke at a press conference ahead of their September 13 fight. Below is some of what they had to say.
Lewis Crocker vs. Paddy Donovan 2 press conference quotes
Lewis Crocker
“The way things worked out last time and stuff, just feel like the stars are aligned for me this time around,” said Crocker. “Like you [Eddie Hearn] saying, approaching 20,000 in Belfast for a world title. Who would have actually dreamt this to happen? Saturday can’t come quick enough and thank you everyone behind the scenes who has made this happen because [this is] a boyhood dream.”
“The last fight was massive, even before the result happened. Going into this one, it’s the highest stage for both of us and it’s what you get into boxing for and I can’t wait to silence all the doubters.”
Paddy Donovan
“It’s my time,” said Donovan. “I’ve worked extremely hard in the gym. I’m looking fantastic. It comes after the training camp we’ve had. The things that we have been working on, the way I’m looking in the gym. The confidence is through the roof and you’re going to see Saturday night just how good I am.”
“Look, Lewis [Crocker] is a good fighter. I’m not gonna take that away from Lewis. He is good. He does a lot of things good, but he makes a lot of mistakes and I just think I can capitalize on the mistakes he makes. I think I’m a better puncher. I’ve got more skill. I’ve got more heart. I’ve got a better engine. I’m better in every single department than Lewis and I just can’t wait to run up on him.”
Fight prediction
Donovan does seem the better skilled of the two. Prior to being disqualified, it did seem like he was on his way to victory in spite of the point deductions. Crocker may have a better idea of what to expect but will still struggle with the skillset of his opponent. Expect Donovan to win their rematch and the world title via stoppage within 10 rounds.
