George Liddard vs. Tyler Denny press conference quotes and fight prediction

George Liddard (13-0, 8 KOs) will soon put his British and Commonwealth middleweight titles at stake against Tyler Denny (21-3-3, 1 KO).

Their bout headlines a Matchroom Boxing card at the Copper Box Arena in London, England. Fight fans around the world can catch the action live on DAZN.

Both men spoke at a press conference ahead of their March 21 contest. Below is some of what they had to say.

George Liddard vs. Tyler Denny press conference quotes

Tyler Denny

“Just business as usual for me,” said Denny. “Most of my career, all the big fights, I’ve been the underdog. It means nothing to me. I’m glad there’s loads of people that are going to be watching it. It works in the [my] favour as well because when they’re cheering him, when I’m punching his head in, they’ll be like ‘ohhh’ and ‘ahhh’ and that. So it’ll be nice and I’m going to thrive off that.”

[He’s a] good fighter. Someone I got a lot of respect for as a fighter. You don’t get them amateur accolades and British, Commonwealth champion [titles] if you’re not a good fighter. You know what I mean? I never understand when people are fighting someone and say ‘oh, he’s no good in this.’ And then, say if you beat him, you’ve beat no one good. You know what I mean? I think he’s a top fighter. He’ll have a good future. But, Saturday’s not going to be his night.”

George Liddard

“It feels good to be back,” said Liddard. “Obviously got some great memories in [York Hall]. Boxing [there] twice, two stoppage wins. Listen, I’m very excited for Saturday night. Cannot wait. All the hard work is done now. This is the fun part for me. It’s an occasion for me. I enjoy all this, but the real business is Saturday night and that’s what I’m looking forward to.”

“Listen, Tyler’s a good fighter. Like he just said then I’m not going to sit here and say he’s no good, he’s this, he’s that. He’s a good fighter. He’s been in with some good opposition. He’s experienced. I just believe I’m the better man. I believe I’m the better fighter and you’ll see that on Saturday night.”

Fight prediction

Denny has only knocked out one of his past opponents, so expect him to try to take this fight the distance and outbox Liddard in the process. However, the reigning British and Commonwealth champion appears more than ready for this challenge. Liddard scored a dominant stoppage of Kieron Conway in his last bout. He clearly possesses a lot of talent and should not be far from challenging for European or even world honours. Expect Liddard to defeat Denny via stoppage by round 10.
