Both men spoke at a press conference ahead of their November 29 contest. Below is some of what they had to say.

Frazer Clarke vs. Jeamie Tshikeva press conference quotes

Frazer Clarke

[I am] just as focused as I need to be,” said Clarke. “There’s no doubt about this opportunity and what it means to become a British champion. I think every professional heavyweight in this country, it’s an ambition of theirs. It has been mine since the day I spoke to Ben [Shalom, promoter] about turning professional and I’ve tried and I’ve failed. I’ve learned from that failure and now I feel like I’m in the best place possible to become British heavyweight champion.”

“It’s fantastic [to headline on the BBC]. I got to say, first of all, the biggest well done to [Shalom] and BOXXER and the whole team basically. It’s not a secret. The last few months has been difficult for a company. But listen, we’ve got it done. We’re on the biggest broadcaster in the country now. Everyone’s going to get to see this on terrestrial TV and it’s a privilege to be the main event for the first show and hopefully it’s a great main event. There’s myself, there’s Jeamie. I feel like we have a responsibility to go out there and put a show on. Like I say, this is the start of big things for everyone at BOXXER and everyone involved.”

Jeamie Tshikeva

“[The loss to David Adeleye] definitely gives me motivation,” said Tshikeva. “This should have been my first title defence. That’s how I look at it. I should have walked away that night as the British heavyweight champion and this should have been my title defence. But you know what? Things happen for a reason. So we’re here now and we’re going to fight on Saturday.”

“It’s big. I know how big this opportunity is. It’s a very big opportunity and just got to thank BOXXER, BBC, and everyone involved and everyone supporting this show in general. So I know how big this opportunity is.”

Fight prediction

Clarke spent a significant amount of time with Team GB, winning gold at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and bronze at the Tokyo Olympics. That amateur background definitely gives him the advantage in this contest. Clarke will be the taller man and likely the heavier man as well. All that combined spells a difficult night for Tshikeva. Clarke to win via stoppage within eight rounds.
