Emanuel Navarrete vs. Eduardo Núñez quotes and fight prediction
Emanuel Navarrete (39-2-1, 32 KOs, 1 NC) and Eduardo Núñez (29-1, 27 KOs) will soon put their respective world titles at stake against each other.
Their bout headlines a Matchroom Boxing card at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, AZ. Fight fans around the world can catch the action live on DAZN. Navarrete’s WBO and Núñez’s IBF super featherweight world titles will be on the line.
Navarrete reportedly had passport issues and as a result, neither him nor Núñez spoke at the press conference. Instead, here is what both men have said in the build-up to their unification bout.
Emanuel Navarrete vs. Eduardo Núñez press conference quotes
Emanuel Navarrete
“I’ve never liked to rank my [opponents],” said Navarrete in Spanish in a “Cards on the Table” segment. “I always let other people do that, you know? But without a doubt I can say, at least in this moment, [Núñez is] among the five strongest rivals I’ve faced. This is a very important challenge for me precisely because of that.”
“Well, I think [losing before] calms me down a bit. I’m very impulsive so it gave me a lot of serenity, tranquility. Sometimes you want to run before you walk, right? And sometimes that happened to me. With defeat, I learned to stabilize myself a little bit and measure the timing a little more and develop with more tranquility.”
Eduardo Núñez
“The truth is it’s a great challenge that,” said Núñez in the Spanish in the same segment. “The one we have in front of us. [Navarrete is] a great fighter. But I’m happy to have this challenge in my career.”
“I’m sure that’s how it’s going to be. It’s going to be a war. I think [Navarrete] will arrive well prepared. We’re going to do our job too and then God will decide the performance of each one.”
Fight prediction
Navarrete’s size has helped him quite a bit throughout his career. He will have a four inch reach advantage over Núñez. Navarrete should be able to land punches from a distance that will keep his opponent at bay. Núñez will be aggressive throughout the bout, which should make for a fun fight between the two. Ultimately, expect Navarrete to outland the IBF champion and win a unanimous decision.
