Edgar Berlanga vs. Hamzah Sheeraz: Press Conference Quotes and Predictions
Edgar Berlanga (23-1, 18 KOs) and Hamzah Sheeraz (21-0-1, 17 KOs) will soon face each other in a 12-round super middleweight fight.
Their bout headlines a Ring Magazine card at the Louis Armstrong Stadium in New York City, NY. Boxing fans around the world can catch the action live as a pay-per-view (PPV) on DAZN.
Both men spoke at a press conference ahead of their July 12 contest. Below is some of what they had to say.
Edgar Berlanga vs. Hamzah Sheeraz Press Conference Quotes
Edgar Berlanga
“For Oscar [De La Hoya] saying we [me and Sheeraz] shouldn’t be main event…obviously, I’ve got my brother [Shakur Stevenson] on the side of me right here. We spoke and I told him it’s a double main event. New York City is my city. I was born and raised here and I’m a star here. So it was only right,” said Berlanga.

“You know I’m king of the first round. Imma touch that [expletive that the writer is not comfortable writing] jaw, man. Fucking giraffe. Imma touch his jaw.”
Hamzah Sheeraz
Note: Much of what Sheeraz had to say was drowned out by Berlanga’s antics and screaming from the crowd. Below is what could be heard from him.
“In reply to that clown [Berlanga] over there, he knows what’s coming,” said Sheeraz. “He knows what’s coming.”

“Listen, listen, at the end of the day I’m here to do a job. I’ve put in my work and that’s it. We’re gonna knock this sausage out, In Sha Allah.”
Fight Prediction
To be brutally honest, Berlanga is just not that good. Although he began his career with 16 consecutive first-round knockouts, his limitations became very evident once the opposition started getting better. Sheeraz may be fighting at super middleweight for the first time, but he is a much better fighter than his opponent. Expect him to outbox Berlanga and eventually get the stoppage win within nine rounds.
