Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn: Press Conference Quotes and Fight Prediction
Chris Eubank Jr. (34-3, 25 KOs) and Conor Benn (23-0, 14 KOs) will soon face each other in a 12-round middleweight clash.
Their bout headlines a Riyadh Season card at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England. Boxing fans around the world can catch the action as a pay-per-view (PPV) on DAZN. For those in the United Kingdom, the PPV will also be available on Sky Sports. Eubank-Benn is part of Riyadh Season, a state-funded entertainment and sports festival. The Saudi Arabian General Entertainment Authority is responsible for its organization.
Ahead of their April 26 fight, Eubank Jr. and Benn spoke at a press conference. Below is some of what they said.
Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn Press Conference Quotes
Chris Eubank Jr.
“I know what’s coming,” said Eubank Jr. “I’ve prepared my whole life for these moments. I’ve put the time in. I’ve dedicated decades to this sport. I’ve done it all without cheating, without cutting any corners, and I’m proud of that. The mentality I have, the experience I have, the fortitude and the will is what I will be using on the night to take out my adversary Conor Benn.”

“Conor speaks about pressure and dealing with it but, there’s a reason why he had his training camp in Spain. The kid had to flee his own country to prepare for this fight. He knew that he couldn’t handle the pressure of walking these UK streets and having people shouting out ‘drug cheat’ and egg jokes. He didn’t want to be involved in any of that. So he took himself away, he hid away. Now he’s back and now he thinks he can use me to kind of get back into the good graces.”
Conor Benn
“This is what I do,” said Benn. “I love this game. This is what I live for. This is every fighter’s dream when they turn professional, to live this life. There’s no more pressure than a 19-year-old kid with no amateur experience walking out to a packed O2 Arena. That’s pressure. I’ve been doing this for ten years and I’m more than prepared and more than ready. I wish it was Saturday night tonight.”

“No pressure. I live for this. I’ve had the fight over 100 times in my head. For me it’s just focusing on my training. Removing myself from my comfort zone, my familiarity, my family and fully dialling in. I’m not going to lower myself to Chris and go back and forth. All that PR is done. I’m excited to get in there and put my hands on him on Saturday night.”
Fight Prediction
To be brutally honest, this is not a good matchup. Were it not for their surnames, few would be paying attention to this fight. In Eubank Jr. you have someone who has spent the bulk of his career at middleweight. On the other hand, Benn has fought at welterweight (aside from two super welterweight fights in the United States that took place while he was banned from fighting in the United Kingdom). In short, there is little reason to believe that this will be competitive.
Eubank Jr. should have few issues dealing with his opponent on Saturday. Benn will be the smaller of the two in the ring and any power that he may have will prove to be ineffective. Expect Eubank Jr. to win via stoppage sometime before round eight.
