On May 3, following Canelo Alvarez vs William Scull, Turki Alalshikh quickly announced the Canelo vs Terence Crawford fight. It was a fight rumoured ever since Canelo signed his historic four-fight deal with Riyadh Season. Originally slated for September 12 at Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, The Ring has since reported it will be September 13, with the venue yet to be announced. Before the official announcement, Bud Crawford appeared on the Pound4pound podcast with Kamaru and Henry and discussed the mega fight and compared his skillset to Canelo’s.

Canelo vs Terence Crawford will be for the undisputed super middleweight crown, following Canelo’s win over Scull to claim the IBF title. It remains to be seen where the fight will be and what date it will actually take place.
When Bud appeared on the Pound4Pound podcast, he outlined the skills he believes give him an edge over Alvarez: “I feel I got the speed over Canelo. I got the reach over him. He might got the size, the power (but) – I got the better boxing skills,” said Crawford.
Crawford was then asked about Canelo’s KO power and his KO win over James Kirkland and Amir Khan: “Don’t get me wrong. He does have a lot of power, but all those games that you named is not as skilful as me. Im sorry. No disrespect to none of those fighters.
“The skill level is night and day,” added Crawford.

When asked how he sees the fight going, Crawford said: “Tough fight. Canelo is a great fighter. I’ve always had respect for Canelo, but I just believe in my skills. The fact that people doubt me just fuels me even more to try get the fight even more. I’m like, man, I can beat this dude.
“I’ve been fighting people bigger than me all my life, and I always came out on top. You gonna get hit, it’s a fight, but he gonna get hit too.
“It’ll be good,” added a smiling Bud.
