Canelo vs Crawford – Teddy Atlas breaks down Netflix superfight

On September 13, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) will face Canelo Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) for the undisputed super middleweight title.

This showdown is the centerpiece of the 2025 boxing calendar, with Canelo defending his undisputed crown and Crawford aiming to become a three-division undisputed champion and four-division lineal champion.

Boxing experts have been sharing their predictions, and respected trainer Teddy Atlas has broken down the bout on The Fight With Teddy Atlas podcast.

Looking ahead to Canelo vs Crawford, while praising both, Atlas said:

“Maybe he’s a little overrated. Canelo is really good. Really good. But I think Crawford is special. I know he hasn’t fought the resume everyone wants, but you have that, or you don’t have that ingredient. And I think he has it. Canelo is really good. He’s tremendous. But could he be a tiny bit overrated?

“The greatness is within Crawford. It’s in his desire. It’s in his mind. It’s in his makeup where he came from. I know he’s moving up in weight class. Can he carry it? You know, but those intangibles…I believe that he has that.”

Looking ahead to the main event, it’s a bout full of intrigue and legacy. Crawford is climbing up the weights to attempt to become an undisputed champion once again. The bookies favour Canelo, but ‘Bud’ looks in exceptional shape.

Canelo struggled to pin down William Scull last time. It’s vital that Crawford stays mobile and picks his moments to throw his combinations from angles. He needs to frustrate Canelo and make him second-guess his next move.

It remains to be seen who will be victorious on September 13, but we’re set for a fight for the ages, which is about as near to a 50/50 as we’ve had for some time.
