Callum Simpson (18-0, 13 KOs) will soon put his British, Commonwealth, and European super middleweight titles on the line against Troy Williamson (21-4-1, 15 KOs).

Their bout headlines a BOXXER card at the First Direct Bank Arena in Leeds, England. Fight fans in the country can catch the action live on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer. Those in the United States, Canada, Ireland and other select international markets will be able to do so on TrillerTV+.

Both men spoke at a press conference ahead of their Dec. 20 encounter. Below is some of what they had to say.

Callum Simpson vs. Troy Williamson press conference quotes

Callum Simpson

“I’m glad that after 10 years Troy has found his best weight,” said Simpson. “It’s great to hear he’s training better, sleeping better and recovering better, because I want the best Troy Williamson on Saturday night.”

“I’m expecting a tough fight, an exciting fight. Everyone knows what Troy can do. I know he’s fit, tough and experienced, so I’m preparing for the very best version of him.”

Troy Williamson

“I’m a different animal at super middleweight,” said Williamson. “I’m at my natural weight now, and people are going to see the benefits of that on Saturday. I can train properly and fuel myself properly for my sessions.”

“You’re going to see the best version of Troy Williamson on Saturday night. Against Mark Dickinson, I wasn’t fully established at the weight, but I’ve grown into it now. This is going to be a dominant performance.”

Fight prediction

Simpson has fought at or above super middleweight for the entirety of his professional boxing career. Williamson’s lack of experience at the weight will definitely go against him. Although he had a remarkable performance against Dickinson, he is biting off more than he can chew against Simpson. Expect the reigning British, Commonwealth, and European champion to get the stoppage within eight rounds.
