Brian Norman Jr vs Devin Haney – Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez makes his pick
Brian Norman Jr vs Devin Haney takes place on a stacked card at the ANB Arena in Riyadh on November 22. This showdown will be for the WBO welterweight title, which is a huge fight for both.
Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez will fight Fernando Martinez on the same card in a super flyweight unification fight. ‘Bam’ has spoken to Fight Hub TV and made his pick for Norman Jr vs Haney.
Brian Norman Jr vs Devin Haney – ‘Bam’ breaks it down
Brian Norman Jr (28-0, 22 KOs) exploded onto the world scene when he stopped Giovani Santillan to win the interim WBO welterweight title and was later elevated to the full title after Terence Crawford chose to vacate.
Since then, the Georgia native has stopped Derrieck Cuevas and Jin Sasaki, leaving him to face Haney on November 22.
Haney’s (32-0, 15 KOs) all-conquering career came to a grinding halt when he lost to Ryan Garcia, suffering three knockdowns. However, the boxing world stood with open mouths when Dan Rafael broke the news of Ryan Garcia’s failed drug tests.
When speaking to Fight Hub TV, Rodriguez discussed the Norman Jr vs Haney bout and revealed his pick:
“Devin Haney against Brian Norman, it’s hard to tell what’s gonna happen in that fight. It depends how Haney comes out. It really all depends on him. He can make it an easy fight, or he can make it a hard fight.”
“But, I feel like Haney is gonna win that fight. I feel like he’s gonna go out there and just be a smart fighter that he always is,” added Rodriguez.
When asked about Norman’s power, Bam said:
“Yeah, he can (punch hard). He’s dangerous for sure. But I feel Haney is just a little too smart.”
“I don’t know. It’s hard to tell just because I know him. People give him a lot of backlash for that fight. So maybe it might change his mentality in going out there and just maybe fighting a more a more action-packed fight, but still in a smart way. I feel like he’s gonna get the job done either way,” said Rodriguez when asked if Haney will fight the same way against Norman as he did against Jose Ramirez.
