Bektemir Melikuziev vs. Darius Fulghum: Quotes and Fight Prediction
Bektemir Melikuziev (15-1, 10 KOs) and Darius Fulghum (14-0, 12 KOs) will soon face each other in a 12-round super middleweight clash.
Their bout headlines a Golden Boy Promotions card at The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. Boxing fans around the world can catch the action live on DAZN.
Ahead of their May 30 fight, here is some of what both fighters have had to say so far.
Bektemir Melikuziev vs. Darius Fulghum Quotes
Bektemir Melikuziev
“I’m happy to be back, in a meaningful fight,” said Melikuziev in a Golden Boy Promotions press release statement. “My goal remains the same – the world championship belt and this fight is for the right to challenge the champion, and that’s what I’ve been waiting for.”
Darius Fulghum
“My mentality for this fight is to make a statement that makes me an undeniable force in the super middleweight division,” said Fulghum in a statement that was also part of the Golden Boy Promotions press release. “I’m extremely thankful to Golden Boy and the WBA for this opportunity. This is an opportunity that I don’t take for granted. I’m checking all boxes so on May 30th the fans will see the best version of DFG.”
Fight Prediction
Melikuziev’s loss to Gabriel Rosado showed that the Uzbek has defensive flaws that can be exploited. He has gone on to win eight fights in a row since that night and on Friday will face an unbeaten super middleweight. Fulghum has the ability to stop his opponent, but he will need to be alert at all times to avoid getting stopped himself. Expect the American to win via stoppage sometime before round 10.
