Ahead of their February 22 clash, both men spoke at a press conference. Below is some of what they had to say.
Artur Beterbiev vs. Dmitry Bivol 2 Press Conference Quotes
Artur Beterbiev
“I want to defend my belts,” said Beterbiev. “Very simple.”
“Yes [I was happy with the first fight] because I [won that] fight.”
“We sit with my team. See fight. It’s always different when you see fight. We make something different [this time around],try to correct something[s]. We’re working on it.”
Dmitry Bivol
“All athletes, we want [to] win,” said Bivol.“We are like gamblers andof course, I wasn’t [a] winner last time. Now I want [to win]. It’s burning inside of me and I want to go. I want to change something because I can see where I was wrong [last time]and I want to change it. As an athlete, I want it so much.”
“Every time you’re exchanging punches, of course it’s a risk and with this fighter like Beterbiev, exchanging the punches is a risk. Sometimes I need to do it.”
Fight Prediction
In May last year, Beterbiev ruptured his meniscus, causing the postponement of his first bout with Bivol. It is possible that that injury had some impact on how the Canadian-based fighter moved in their fight in October. However, much time has passed since then and Beterbiev should be able to move around the ring better. That being said, Bivol is excellent defensively and has shown he can go the distance with a power puncher like his opponent on Saturday. Expect the rematch to go the distance again with Beterbiev prevailing.
