Hear More On Latest With Gervonta Davis Arrest

The Gervonta Davis arrest situation leads our latest edition of the “Big Fight Weekend Preview” podcast, as we close out 2022.

Our content partner and Insider Dan Rafael joined me to go over the latest with the multi-division world champion having been taken into custody, yet again, this time for domestic violence charges in Miami, Florida earlier this week. What’s the latest on weather Davis will still be headlining the scheduled Showtime/Premier Boxing Champions pay-per-view next Saturday January 7th in Washington D.C.?

The guys also discuss whether Showtime Sports should go ahead and pull the plug on Davis being featured on this pay-per-view because he’s been in trouble multiple times over the last three or four years?

Dan also has the latest news on a couple of fight cards that have been added by Top Rank Boxing and Matchroom Boxing for the first part of 2023, as well.

More on “Rocky”

We are also following up on last week’s discussion on all of Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky movies. Dan relays how he and his ESPN colleague at the time Brian Kenney were both part of deleted scenes in the sixth edition of the movies “Rocky Balboa.” Then, T.J. chimes in and admonishes Dan at the same time for never having seen the 1981 Sylvester Stallone movie about World War II and an All-Star soccer game called “Victory.”

In that movie the worldwide soccer icon Pele’, who died of cancer at 82 on Thursday, is featured and he’s the man that choreographed all of the soccer scenes for the film. The action/drama also starred British actor Michael Caine and German renowned movie villian, Max von Sydow.

The podcast concludes with the guys previewing the final world title fight of 2022, as Japanese junior bantamweight World Champ Kazuto Ioka defends his title in a unification bout with American Joshua Franco of Texas. It’s expected to be an action-packed battle in the 115 lb. division with the winner walking away with both the WBO and WBA world titles. The bout will be Saturday night in the Far East and Saturday morning on New Year’s Eve in the United States.

You’re hear it all of the latest “Big Fight Weekend Preview,” which comes your way each weekend, usually out by Friday mid-morning. It’s part of Big Fight Weekend’s podcast feed and make sure that you’re following/subscribing on Apple podcasts, Spotify and Google etc!
