Usyk Fury 2: Fury’s Most Memorable Rematches Ahead of Riyadh Showdown
Tyson Fury vs. John McDermott
On September 11, 2009, Tyson Fury faced John McDermott for the English title. “The Gypsy King” was a huge favourite with his opponent expected to be no more than cannon fodder. McDermott defied all expectations and outworked Fury for the majority of the fight. Referee Terry O’Connor had other ideas and scored the bout 98-92 in favour of Fury.

The rematch on June 25, 2010, saw Fury dominate the contest and gradually break his opponent down. “The Gypsy King” scored a knockdown in round eight and two in round nine, winning by TKO in round nine.
Derek Chisora
Fury and Derek Chisora first met in July 2011. Fury boxed diligently throughout, winning by unanimous decision. The rematch occurred on November 29, 2014 at the ExCeL London.

The rematch was more dominant from “The Gypsy King” as he used his height and reach advantage to jab and move throughout the fight, much to the frustration of Chisora, who failed to land anything significant. It was rinse and repeat for Fury, as he controlled the distance and tempo from the opening bell until Don Charles pulled Chisora from the fight at the end of round ten.
Deontay Wilder
On February 22, 2020, “The Gypsy King” and “The Bronze Bomber” collided once again. Their first fight will be forever synonymous with Fury’s comeback from his personal problems. He also memorably rose from a heavy knockdown to claim a draw.
Before the rematch, Fury promised aggression – and aggression is what he gave us. The Brit took the middle of the ring and let his jab go from the first bell. He moved well, making Wilder miss, before flooring the American in round three with a strong right hand.

Blood began to pour from Wilders’s ear, before the next legitimate knockdown coming in round five, with a left hook to the body, flooring the American. The domination from Fury continued, with Wilder now bleeding from the mouth as well as the ear. Another sustained heavy attack from “The Gypsy King” prompted Wilder’s corner to throw in the towel to save their fighter from further punishment much to his disgust. It was another dominant showing from the Brit, and to this day, many call this his greatest performance.
On December 21, Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will clash in their highly anticipated rematch for the WBA, WBC, and WBO heavyweight titles in Riyadh. “The Gypsy King” has proven his dominance in rematches, but can he produce the greatest win of his career to maintain his 100% record in rematches?
