Tyson decisions Ali in eWBSS Final
Mike Tyson, today in a game simulation, decisions Muhammad Ali to claim his throne as the greatest heavyweight of all time…in the latest game simulation.
While COVID-19 has bought all live sports to a grinding halt, the world of eSports and video games are still present. The gang who operate the World Boxing Super Series decided to make the greatest heavyweight of all-time tournament this past week to fill the void of any live boxing taking place.
Fellow site contributor and recent podcast guest David Payne was all aboard the tourney when it started. Listen to his thoughts and more on that with our latest podcast below.
But back to the heavyweight final of Tyson versus Ali, Tyson in the simulation of the video game Fight Night Champion was knocked down by Ali in the opening round with a nasty left hook started by an uppercut but recovered to win over twelve tough rounds by unanimous decision. While Tyson was knocked down in the opening stanza, he answered back with knockdowns of his own in the second and fifth rounds. From that moment on, Tyson took control of the second half of the simulated contest. Fitting that this final was the only one to go the distance as prior bouts in this heavyweight tourney did not advance past the seventh round.

The close contest had all three judges score the battle 114-111 in favor of Tyson with the second knockdown being the key to victory.
Will this simulation stop any “who is greater” arguments you may have had before this started? Of course not, but I admire the gang over at WBSS, providing us something in a time where live sports content is not an option. It also brings up the importance that we need another version of Fight Night video game by EA Sports or anybody willing to create one at this point as it has been too long since the last one.
You can replay the Tyson and Ali from the World Boxing Super Series Facebook page and the bouts that got there below. They are starting up one on Monday with the middleweights that are also very interesting as we all wait out the pandemic to subside and bring back live boxing.

Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth is not only a quote by Mike Tyson, it's also a pretty good reminder to keep your guard up.
