Amir Khan makes his choice – Terence Crawford or Floyd Mayweather?

When asked for a pick: Mayweather or Crawford? Khan did not hesitate: “Crawford all day long.”

Khan added: “I always said to everyone that Crawford is a fantastic fighter. Skilled, movement, he has everything that it takes to become the best, and there’s no one there to touch him in this game.

“So, when that Canelo fight was announced with Crawford, I said to everyone that Crawford’s gonna win. People looked at me like, ‘Are you sure?’ ‘Is he big enough?’ I go trust me. Crawford is big enough, he’s strong enough, and he can beat Canelo. And guess what? He went there and did it.”

Crawford and Mayweather

Looking at the styles of both and their respective records, it’s easy to see why they are often involved in conversations around the best fighters of all time.

Crawford’s (42-0, 31 KOs) legacy has been secured for life, with his historic victory over Canelo Alvarez. Throughout his undefeated career thus far, his technical ability has stood out. An incredible switch-hitter with fight-ending power in both hands.

He’s poised in his work, controls the distance and tempo in his fights, and picks his punches incredibly well. Crawford mixes his attacks well and possesses an excellent jab. Against Canelo, he showed an impressive engine, which saw him increase the tempo against Canelo as the fight progressed. Despite losing his undisputed status after being stripped by the WBC, his legacy remains intact.

Floyd Mayweather’s (50-0, 27 KOs) legacy will be secured for many generations. He is a defensive master with his exceptional Philly Shell defence.

His IQ helped him overcome many great fighters such as Canelo Alvarez, Manny Pacquiao, and Oscar De La Hoya, among others. He carried power in his early career, but even as he moved up in weight, his ability to outbox his opponents only increased.

Aside from his defence, Mayweather was an exceptional counterpuncher, with brilliant footwork which helped him create plenty of angles. A true example of the sweet science, and retired undefeated.
