Ryan Garcia weighs in on Teofimo Lopez vs Shakur Stevenson
On January 31, at Madison Square Garden, Teofimo Lopez vs Shakur Stevenson will headline the “Ring 6” fight card live on DAZN Pay-Per-View, with Lopez’s lineal and WBO super lightweight titles up for grabs.
Stevenson is the undefeated and reigning WBC lightweight champion, moving up in weight to challenge for the super lightweight crown. Ryan Garcia, preparing for his own world title fight against Mario Barrios, recently spoke in a media huddle about Lopez-Stevenson and revealed who he thinks will win.

Stevenson (24-0, 11 KOs) and Lopez (22-1, 13 KOs) are both coming into January 31 on the back of impressive victories in their last fights, with Shakur defeating William Zepeda by unanimous decision (118-110 x2 and 119-109) on the Ring III fight card.
Teofimo fought on the May 2 Times Square card, comfortably defeating Arnold Barboza Jr by unanimous decision, with scores of 116-112, 116-112, and 118-110.
Speaking in a media huddle, Garcia was asked about Teofimo Lopez vs Shakur Stevenson, and said:
“I would put my money on Shakur, but I won’t be surprised if Teofimo surprises us all, for sure. I think I’m underestimating Teofimo a little bit.
“I don’t think he can make the necessary adjustments to his own style to combat what Shakur does best, but he could definitely prove me wrong for sure, and I won’t be surprised.”
