Stevens ready for Omotoso in light middleweight debut

Curtis ‘Showtime’ Stevens is back on the big stage this weekend, as he opens the Fox Sports broadcast from the Barclays Center, Brooklyn this coming Saturday, as his WBO Intercontinental title clash with Wale Omotoso has been moved to the live broadcast. His bout replaces the one with Andre Berto, who had to withdraw due to an injury.

Stevens has his first professional match at 154 pounds this weekend, and the Brownsville banger opened up on his training camp ahead of his clash with South African Omotoso.

Stevens said, “Training has gone fantastically for this fight. I’ve really worked hard for a long period of time to make sure that the world sees a different animal at 154 pounds and I guarantee they will see that on Saturday night.

“I have to thank my Uncle Andre Rozier, Terrence Simpson, Lenny ’Lovefresh’ Wilson and all the Havoc team for getting me in shape and Dave Honig for all of the conditioning he has done with me over the last few months to make me a strong super welterweight.

“The focus on this camp has been producing the best Curtis Stevens that can be put on a show on August 3. The best Curtis Stevens at 154 pounds gives anyone at that weight hell, so that will be more enough to destructively take out Omotoso.”

Stevens features on a card that features his close friend Marcus Browne’s clash with Jean Pascal as well as Brooklyn based Pole Adam Kownacki’s clash with the all-action Californian Chris Arreola.

Stevens weighed in on this weekend’s card as a whole and discussed being moved up the card to the TV broadcast.

He said to the media, “The show this weekend is going to be a great show and the minute my fight is over I’m excited to watch Adam Kownacki and Marcus Browne do their thing as they’re both exciting fighters in exciting fights. I believe both Adam and Marcus are the present and future of Brooklyn Boxing so I am excited to watch them put on a show.
