Skye Nicolson reveals the best female boxer she’s ever seen

Skye Nicolson (14-1, 3 KOs) outclassed Sarah Mahfoud to win the WBC featherweight title in 2024, a belt she defended twice before suffering a shock split decision loss to Tiara Brown.

Skye has since moved to super bantamweight, winning twice by stoppage, and looks destined to move towards a world title shot. The Aussie fighter is one of the best female fighters in the world, alongside a plethora of boxers under the Most Valuable Promotions banner.

However, when speaking to She Kicks, Nicolson revealed one name above all the rest.

Skye Nicolson reveals the female boxer she rates above all

Skye Nicolson is successfully working her way towards a world title shot at super bantamweight after losing her featherweight title earlier this year.

Female boxing is in a great place, with many involved in huge fights, such as Ellie Scotney, Katie Taylor, Amanda Serrano, and Chantelle Cameron.

Despite all these elite names, Nicolson names the best female boxer she’s ever seen:

“I sparred with this one girl, she’s actually just recently turned professional, Tiah-Mai Ayton (2-0, 2 KOs). She’s just turned 19 years old, and she is probably the best female boxer I’ve ever seen, Tiah-Mai Ayton.

“Remember the name, she’s going to do big, big things in the sport, a very smart fighter, heavy handed, exciting, has that killer instinct, but can box as well, she’s the full package. So seeing young girls like that, that have come through and just that level, the boxing IQ, it’s incredible. So I’m very excited for where women’s boxing’s headed.”

Tiah-Mai Ayton Qualities

Ayton punches with venom and throws with incredible accuracy. During her fledgling professional journey, she has shown an impressive ability to finish her opponents when they are hurt.

She doesn’t rush her work and shows poise. She moves her feet in and out and punches with plenty of power. The journey of Ayton looks set to be an exciting one.
