Keyshawn Davis makes bold Shakur Stevenson claim after Ryan Garcia win
Boxing continues to create headlines, with great fights being made and boxers engaging in heated online debates. Two of the most talked-about fighters in recent months are Shakur Stevenson and Ryan Garcia.
Stevenson recently delivered a dominant win against Teofimo Lopez on January 31, becoming the WBO super lightweight champion. On February 21, Garcia defeated Mario Barrios to become the WBC welterweight world champion. Talking about a potential Stevenson-Garcia showdown, Keyshawn Davis has made it clear who he’s backing.
Shakur Stevenson vs Ryan Garcia
Ryan Garcia (25-2, 20 KOs) has spoken openly about facing Shakur Stevenson (25-0, 11 KOs), and Shakur responded via his X account:
“144 Ryan let’s do it.. I’ll be at your fight now scrub! Vada will be involved so don’t run from that,” said Stevenson.
Stevenson also recently spoke to Stephen A. Smith and was asked how he would beat Garcia:
“I think he’s very overrated. If a guy loses to Rolly that way…The way that I saw him lose to Rolly. All Rolly did was take away his left hook. That means clearly that’s all he got. He better sharpen up his weapons before he gets in the ring with me,” said Shakur.
After his win over Barrios, Garcia was asked in the ring who he wanted to face next: “You know who I want. He’s right there (at ringside), Shakur Stevenson, let’s go,” said Garcia.
Both have spoken about facing each other, the weight for the fight, and a possible rehydration clause. Garcia has made it clear he will not fight again with a rehydration clause, following his fight with Gervonta Davis back in 2023.
Shakur Stevenson vs Ryan Garcia: Keyshawn Davis weighs in
Whether Stevenson vs Garcia happens remains to be seen, but Davis is certain who wins, despite praising both:
“Ryan looked amazing. It was a great performance. It was good for boxing. Everybody was entertained from round one until the end. Ryan did a hell of a job,” said Davis.
When asked how Shakur beats Garcia at 147 pounds, Davis said:
“The same way he been getting the job done. Out-thinking opponents and beating the s**t out of them. That last fight was just so flawless, you really couldn’t get no better than that, other than him stopping him. That’s a bigger guy. He moved up in weight to fight dude, shouts out to Shakur. He’s one of the best in the sport. I’m one of the best in the sport, and I’m gonna show y’all. I’m about to take over the game, fight by fight.”
