Sebastian Fundora fires warning to Keith Thurman before title fight

On March 28, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Sebastian Fundora defends his WBC super welterweight world title against Keith Thurman on a PBC Pay-Per-View event. These two were originally due to meet last October, before a Fundora hand injury led to the bout being postponed. Ahead of this world title clash, “The Towering Inferno” has spoken via a PBC press release, where he fired a warning to Thurman when discussing the trash-talking of his March 28 opponent.

Sebastian Fundora vs Keith Thurman set for March 28

Fundora (23-1-1, 15 KOs) was last in action delivering a beat-down to Tim Tszyu in their rematch, with Tszyu retiring after round seven. That win made it three wins in a row since Fundora suffered a shock defeat against Brian Mendoza.

Thurman (31-1, 23 KOs) has dazzled at times during his career, but in recent years, inactivity has contributed to his career almost grinding to a halt. Wins over Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter show the elite abilities he had at his best. It remains to be seen if enough of Thurman’s skills remain to trouble “The Towering Inferno.”

Via a press release, Fundora exhuded confidence:

“Beating this former world champion will make a big statement,” said Fundora. “I still feel like I’m at the top of the division. I don’t think we’ve lost any momentum, we just had to reschedule. We’re not hiding from anybody. This is gonna remind everyone that we are at the top.”

“Keith’s trash talk is good for TV, that’s what I’ll say,” said Fundora. “He’s always been the bad guy going into a fight because of that. And he backs it up a lot. But this time he’s not gonna be able to back it up.

“I’m not distracted by the talking. It doesn’t bother me one bit. Maybe if he wasn’t as well-known as he is, it could have caught me off guard. But when I step into the ring with these guys, I expect them to hate my guts. I expect that they wanna get rid of me. That’s boxing. We’re in a competitive sport and we want to do the same thing to each other. It’s nothing personal, but we both gotta do what we gotta do,” said Fundora.
