Sam Gilley vs. Jack McGann: Quotes and Fight Prediction
Sam Gilley (17-1, 8 KOs) is set to defend his Commonwealth title against late replacement Jack McGann (10-1-1, 7 KO).
The two fighters will headline an October 18 Queensberry Promotions show at York Hall in London, England. Boxing fans in the United Kingdom can catch the action live on TNT Sports. Customers of TNT Sports can also stream the event on discovery+. There are no broadcasters for this card outside of the United Kingdom.
Gilley was originally going to face Louis Greene in a rematch on Friday. However, an injury to Greene resulted in McGann stepping up. Below is some of what Gilley and McGann have had to say about their clash.
Sam Gilley vs. Jack McGann Quotes
Sam Gilley
“I had to get me head around the fact that it wasn’t Louis [Greene],” said Gilley in an interview with Dev Sahni. “But I still got to showcase myself on a massive card at York Hall in front of all the Queensberry lot. So, let’s do it!”
Jack McGann
“We was going to do a six-rounder at middle [on this very card],” said McGann in an interview with Sahni. “I just finished sparring and the phone call [comes]…we just said yes straightaway and that was it.”
Fight Prediction
Gilley is a recent signing with Queensberry Promotions and appears keen to make an impression. However, a late opponent replacement means there are a number of unknowns both fighters must navigate heading into Friday night. The early round may feature little action as both men try to figure each other out. McGann has more success in knocking out opponents, but Gilley should be able to weather any storms that come his way. Expect the Commonwealth champion to secure a unanimous decision win.
