The troubled American fighter soon made more headlines for all the wrong reasons, getting arrested for vandalizing his hotel room at the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills. Not long after the arrest for felony vandalism, Garcia accepted to be suspended for one year retroactive to the fight date, forfeiting his base salary of over $1 million, and his majority decision win be overturned to a no contest. Additionally, his social media accounts have featured troubling posts, including the use of offensive language and rants aimed at Muslims and George Floyd.

Despite the setbacks, Garcia appears to be planning his return, revealing via his X account the fighter he wants to face in his comeback bout: “Ryan Garcia vs. Teofimo Lopez,“ Garcia wrote.
He continued: “For my return in April. Let’s make it happen Teo.”
