Riyadh Season agrees ‘game-changing deal’ for British boxing
Riyadh Season’s involvement in boxing has taken another step, with Ring Magazine, owned by Turki Alalshikh, revealing a “game-changing deal” for British boxing.
Riyadh Season has agreed a major sponsorship with Boxxer to support the new era of UK fights set to begin on October 25 on BBC Two, with Frazer Clarke (9-1-1, 7 KOs) vs Jeamie TKV (8-2, 5 KOs) headlining.
BBC Two to showcase Clarke vs TKV in UK boxing return
The BBC has recently agreed a broadcast deal with Boxxer, meaning big-time boxing will return to prime-time television and BBC iPlayer.
The BBC will air fights from multiple cards, starting with Clarke vs TKV on October 25 from the Vaillant Arena. The British heavyweight title showdown will be shown live on BBC Two, with the undercard action on BBC iPlayer.
Speaking about the deal with the BBC:
“Partnering with the BBC to deliver big-time British boxing on Saturday night TV is a historic moment,” Shalom said.
“We’re proud to bring the most entertaining British fighters to the biggest possible audience.
“This huge platform will give our fights the exposure they deserve and helps us take the sport to huge new audiences.”
Riyadh Season agree major sponsorship deal with Boxxer
The sponsorship agreement between Riyadh Season and Boxxer means that Riyadh Season will “support the new era of UK fight nights” and “deliver big events to millions” of British fight fans.
In a world full of PPV and subscription fees, this could be a major opportunity to attract millions of viewers to the sport.
The Boxxer-BBC partnership is a big boost for Ben Shalom and Boxxer, following the end of the company’s partnership with Sky Sports.
The October 25 fight card will be the first time professional boxing has been shown on the BBC’s terrestrial coverage since 2005, when Clinton Woods fought Rico Hoye.
