Pulev hopeful for July 25th bout with Joshua
Kubrat Pulev once COVID-19 subsides is hopeful that his bout with Anthony Joshua as a mandatory challenger is taking place.
We wrote in mid-March here that his bout to take place in Tottenham Hotspur Stadium just north of London was likely going to be delayed from the original date of June 20th. That new date has been rescheduled for July 25th, and Pulev is ready for it should everything resumes back to normal.
“Despite humanity’s most difficult fight to date and the underestimation of the effects on the world of the coronavirus, we will be forced to learn to live in a new, not so pleasant, way that millions of people around the world will be mildly unhappy,” Pulev said.
“Despite the difficulties, we must find new opportunities to smile, to transform our lives so that despite all the unpleasant things, to remain happy and to believe in a better future, and that all of this is, after all, for good.

“This is exactly why, despite my real view of the situation, I strongly believe that a world title match can be held on the new date of July 25th. Let’s prove that we humans are quickly adaptable, super flexible, with unlimited capabilities, and more powerful than a single virus,” Pulev stated.
The real view Pulev hinted at is something that Adam Smith of Sky Sports shares, as well.
Speaking with Boxing Social, Smith, like all of us, has no idea when these fights really will happen?
“It’s just that we won’t know when, and to be honest it’s not that important at the moment,” Smith said to Boxing Social. We just have to accept that there are much bigger things at stake. That’s peoples’ lives and people’s families. The key is everyone needs to stay at home, and the NHS is as safe as possible and keep everyone out that as safe as possible”.
We’ll see how everything plays out, but all we can do is wait and see like Pulev if that is at all likely.
