Parker asked for Whyte or Povetkin from Hearn
Heavyweight Joesph Parker is looking to get back into action with someone at the top of the division, and for the former WBO titleholder, it’s going to have to come after Junior Fa.
Parker, who during the pandemic has been making hysterical reenactments of movies on his social media, stated that he reached out to Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn for a crack at either Billian Whyte or Alexander Povetkin after their fight to close out the Fight Camp series.

“I watched the fight – I gave Dillian a call straight after, and he said he was OK. He realizes that, in heavyweight boxing, one punch can change everything, and that’s certainly what happened,” Parker said on New Zealand’s AM Show.
“I video-called Eddie after the fight and asked him to give me Povetkin – or even Whyte. He told me to smash Junior Fa first, and then he would look at one of those two for me.
So the contest Parker wants between either Whyte or Povetkin will have to wait as Hearn advised Parker that Whyte has already exercised his rematch clause with Povetkin to get revenge o the knockout defeat in August.

The on-going negotiations for Parker taking on Fa last check were still being ironed out between the to for a contest to take place sometime in the fall. To those who have been keeping an eye on this heavyweight matchup now that they have been working on this at least since 2018 but haven’t agreed on finances to make it happen.
Parker mentioned that this time around, that part of it should be settled.
“Hopefully, we can make a deal. I think it will happen – we have given them what they’ve asked for. If they don’t want to sign, then we are prepared to walk away and fight someone else who is keen to fight – we are talking about a lot of money. I am ready to go. I have been training twice a day. I just want to get back in the ring and give someone a beating,” Parker stated.
We’ll see if Parker can get a crack at either Whyte or Povetkin next, but all signs point to the eventual all New Zealand contest with fa first before any of that talk will proceed.
