Oscar De La Hoya calls out UFC and TKO in fiery video
Dana White’s move into boxing has been anything but straightforward. The Terence Crawford vs Canelo Alvarez fight was a bright start, but the proposed changes to the Muhammad Ali Act have been anything but well-received.
His UFC organisation has now attracted negative press, with White confirming the FBI is investigating alleged match fixing allegations regarding the Isaac Dulgarian vs Yadier Del Valle matchup on November 1. Oscar De La Hoya has taken to his social media to take aim at these allegations against the UFC.
Dana White addresses FBI probe into UFC betting scandal
White has been vocal that the UFC is working with the FBI to solve this latest situation.
The controversy began when IC360 (UFC’s betting integrity partner) approached the UFC before Dulgarian vs Valle and voiced their concerns over the unusual bets backing del Valle to win and on the first-round prop bet.
Revealing conversations before the fight, White said:
“We called the fighter and his lawyer and said, ‘What’s going on? There’s some weird betting action going on in your fight. Are you injured? Do you owe anybody money? Has anybody approached you?'” White explained. “And the kid said, ‘No, absolutely not. I’m going to kill this guy.’ So we said OK. The fight plays out — and first-round finish by rear-naked choke. Literally, the first thing we did was call the FBI.”
In addition to the FBI investigation and the review by IC360, The Nevada Athletic Commission has withheld Dulgarian’s fight purse. White is denying the UFC has done any wrongdoing, but this is undoubtedly not a good look for the UFC, which has endured gambling controversy before when Darrick Minner was cut in 2022 following a suspicious loss to Shayilan Nuerdanbieke.
Oscar De La Hoya takes aim at Dana White amid FBI probe
Discussing the situation with Dana White and the UFC, Oscar De La Hoya said:
“So, my friend Dana White and the UFC are being investigated by the FBI for allegedly fixing over 100 fights?
“With the latest one over the weekend, that was incredibly suspicious. I mean, wow! Is anybody really surprised? Ariel Helwani, who is the voice of MMA, spent the last few days digging deeper into this matter.
“I’ve been trying to tell you guys, TKO guys are scumbags! Now the’yre trying to change the Muhammad Ali Act to f**k boxers over? Get the f**k out of our sport. Everything you touch turns to absolute s**t, and now you have the FBI crawling up your ass?
“Good f***ing luck. I mean is there any young boxer who is crazy enough to f**k their careers by signing with your s**t league? They want their own rules. They want their own belt, their own ring, their own sanction, to do exactly what they’ve done with the UFC, which landed them a $400 million suit from former fighters and now a federal investigation into illegal activity. We’ll see how that pans out.
“Dana’s shirt is definitely stressed at this point, and he’s having a terrible week. But guess what? I’m having a great week,” said De La Hoya.
