De La Hoya clarifies Golden Boy future of Ryan Garcia

Garcia’s relationship with Golden Boy has often been tumultuous. Some may even call it toxic. “Kingry” has spoken regularly in the past about his desire to leave Golden Boy, even saying: “Oscar doesn’t respect me.

When asked about the promotional future of Garcia, De La Hoya said: “I don’t think he knows. Or maybe he does, but we have several fights with him. And I’m proud to promote him as a young kid, and now see him evolve. And yet, the differences that we’ve had, I seriously don’t know what, what happened, but it is what it is. I mean, I’m still proud to promote him.

“I’m so proud to get him to this world title shot. And that’s where I feel proud as a promoter, is when I can help a fighter get to their dreams, get to that world title, and become world champion. But we have several fights with him left.”
