This past Saturday, undefeated super lightweight standout, Omar “El Relámpago” Juarez (7-0, 4 KOs), an undefeated rising star who regularly fights on FS1 PBC Fight Night and FOX Deportes, help feed those in need in his hometown of Brownsville, TX, during this COVID-19 Shutdown.

Juarez, along with two of his local sponsors, O’ so Gud BBQ and Jesco Logistics & Camco Builders, fed over 1000 community members. A lineup of cars gathered as they waited for their donated meal. The list included many essential workers and those in the community that has been struggling during the Shutdown.

“We are blessed to have helped feed over 1000 essential workers and the community in need,” stated Juarez. “Due to an overwhelming response the food run out. I want to give a huge shout out to O’SO GUD BBQ Owner Arturo Rosales and Jesco Logistics & Camco Builders owner Juan Escobedo, for helping me give back to our community during this difficult time. I will continue to help my community of Brownsville, Texas anyway I can. Let’s keep fighting together!”

Juarez was last in action as late as this past February in Biloxi, Mississippi, where he won on the undercard of Yordenis Ugas one-sided stoppage victory of Mike Dallas Jr. by winning by unanimous decision against Angel Martinez Hernandez.  This noble gesture by the young welterweight isn’t just something to do for the spotlight but is who Juarez is.

Last month, Juarez in a piece for Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) dedicating time to speaking to kids in his Brownsville, Texas community.

“Growing up, what really motivated me was listening to motivational speakers like Eric Thomas and other athletes,” Juarez said back in March to PBC. “I told myself, ‘Wow, if just the power of words could change my life, maybe it could change other peoples’ lives too.'”

“I always told myself no matter how far I get in my career. I want to give back because growing up, not a lot of people believed in me. But just through the power of words, listening to somebody else speak about what is possible, that anything is possible, that the only limit is myself—that really inspired me to give back to others,” Juarez said.
