Knockout specialist Inoue is back and will face Irish-born former world champion TJ Doheny for the undisputed super bantamweight title. The fearsome Japanese puncher has won his last eight fights by knockout since his toughest fight, his first bout against Nonito Donaire.

Inoue came through a first-round knockdown in his last fight, before recovering and stopping Luis Nery in six rounds. His impressive performance against Stephen Fulton showed “The Monster” at his dominating best as he systematically broke down Fulton.

Doheny has enjoyed great success on Japanese soil and is 4-0 and 3-0 against Japanese fighters. His most eye-catching wins have come against Ryosuke Iwasa, Kazuki Nakajima and Bryl Bayogos.

“Naoya Inoue is a generational talent, and every time he fights, the boxing world stops to watch the master at work,” said Top Rank Chairman Bob Arum. “TJ Doheny is a veteran who can never be counted out, as he’s defied the odds many times when fighting in Japan.”

The undercard looks set to give us plenty of entertainment with WBO bantamweight world champion Yoshiki Takei (9-0, 8 KOs) defending his strap against former flyweight world champion Daigo Higa (21-2-1, 19 KOs).
