Kenshiro Teraji Returns in Osaka Doubleheader
Kenshiro Teraji (22-1, 14 KOs) now has an official date for his ring return.
“The Amazing Boy” will face Carlos Cañizales (26-1-1, 19 KOs) on Jan. 24 in a defence of his WBA and WBC light flyweight belts. Both men headline an event at the EDION Arena in Osaka, Japan. A press conference in Tokyo on Thursday afternoon made the clash official. The fight serves as a WBA mandatory title defence for Teraji. Amazon Prime Japan will broadcast the event. Broadcasters for the rest of the world have yet to be announced.

Kenshiro Teraji vs. Carlos Cañizales
Since first becoming world champion in 2017, Teraji has had 14 title fights, winning 13 of them. His sole loss to Masamichi Yabuki was later avenged in a rematch. Since then, the unified champion has won four fights in a row.
Cañizales became the mandatory challenger with an eighth-round technical decision win over Daniel Matellon in June this year. His past two visits to Japan saw him draw with Ryoichi Taguchi in 2016 and win a unanimous decision over Reiya Konishi in 2018. Cañizales is unbeaten in four fights since getting stopped by Esteban Bermudez in May 2021.
Artem Dalakian to Also Make Title Defence
Artem Dalakian (22-0, 15 KOs) will also return to the ring to take on Seigo Yuri Akui (18-2-1, 11 KOs). The bout will take place just before Teraji-Cañizales. Dalakian defends his WBA flyweight title.
Fight fans may recall the Ukrainian from the time he won a unanimous decision over David Jimenez on the undercard of Artur Beterbiev’s knockout win over Anthony Yarde. This will be Dalakian’s third fight abroad. Prior to the Jimenez bout, he beat Brian Viloria in Inglewood, CA, in 2018 for the title he now holds.
Tenshin Nasukawa Returns on Undercard
The remainder of the undercard sees the return of Tenshin Nasukawa (2-0, 0 KOs). Many may recall him for his exploits as a kickboxer or for his defeat to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a 2018 exhibition. He takes on Luis Pacheco (15-2-1, 5 KOs) in an eight-round bantamweight clash.
A fourth fight announced at the press conference pits two Japanese fighters against each other. Yuki Yonaha (13-5-1, 8 KOs) faces Juiki Tatsuyoshi (14-0-1, 10 KOs) in an eight-round super bantamweight clash.
