‘Never seen anything like this’: Keith Thurman delivers promise to Sebastian Fundora

On March 28, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Sebastian Fundora defends his WBC super welterweight world title against Keith Thurman on a Premier Boxing Champions Pay-Per-View event. These two were originally due to meet last October, before a Fundora hand injury led to the bout being postponed.

Ahead of this intriguing main event, Thurman spoke via a press release, promising fans a thriller.

Sebastian Fundora vs Keith Thurman set for March 28 in Las Vegas

Fundora (23-1-1, 15 KOs) was last in action delivering a beat-down to Tim Tszyu in their rematch, with Tszyu retiring after round seven. That win made it three wins in a row since Fundora suffered a shock defeat against Brian Mendoza.

Thurman (31-1, 23 KOs) has dazzled at times during his career, but in recent years, inactivity and injuries have contributed to his career almost grinding to a halt. Wins over Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter show the elite skills he has, but it remains to be seen if enough remains for him to dethrone “The Towering Inferno.”

Thurman delivers promise ahead of Fundora showdown

Reflecting on the opportunity of facing Fundora, Thurman said:

“This will definitely solidify me as a Hall of Famer,” said Thurman. “This is just a beautiful opportunity. The last time I held a world title was in 2019. I don’t think anyone from that generation has a story like this. Boxing loves great comeback stories and this as a modern day story right now. This is what boxing movies are all about. It’s been done, it can be done and it’s gonna be done again. I’m looking forward to solidifying my place in boxing history.”

“March 28 the world is gonna see one of the best fights of the year,” said Thurman. “Fundora really comes to fight and I truly come to fight. There’s a lot of potential for some great back and forth. I’m gonna look to set traps, drop those heavy hammers on him and hopefully go home early. Fundora’s never seen anything like this,” added Thurman.
