Joseph Parker vs Fabio Wardley undercard blow
On Saturday, October 25, at The O2 Arena in London, Joseph Parker vs Fabio Wardley headlines a Queensberry Promotions show, live on DAZN Pay-Per-View.
The Ring has today reported that the intriguing light heavyweight fight between Ezra Taylor and Lewis Edmondson has been cancelled due to an injury sustained by Edmondson.
Joseph Parker vs Fabio Wardley – Taylor vs Edmondson undercard bout cancelled
The Joseph Parker vs Fabio Wardley fight promises plenty of fireworks. Parker has the experience to deal with big punchers, as proven in his wins against Zhilei Zhang and Deontay Wilder. The Kiwi fighter comes into this bout in great form, having won his last six fights since losing to Joe Joyce.
Wardley has proven that his power is the greatest equaliser. His destruction of Frazer Clarke in the rematch and his big right hand against Justis Huni when well behind on the scorecards proved that he just needs one punch to land.
Parker is the WBO mandatory and first in line to challenge Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight title. Should Wardley win, he will be the WBO mandatory and next in line. It really is all or nothing for both.
On the undercard to Parker vs Wardley, many were looking forward to the light heavyweight grudge match between Taylor (12-0, 8 KOs) and Edmondson (11-1, 3 KOs). The man from Southampton has reportedly suffered a hip injury in the final stages of training, leading to the fight’s cancellation.
Taylor has shown his speed and power so far, knocking out most of his opponents in style. He also showed his boxing ability and toughness in the win over Troy Jones earlier this year.
Edmondson lost to Ukrainian prospect Daniel Lapin last time out, with many feeling the Brit had done enough to get the decision.
Queensberry are looking for a replacement fighter to ensure Taylor stays on the card.
